FARMIVLLE, Va. - Five different players scored - four of them in the first half as UC Davis built a big lead - to help the Aggie women's field hockey team finish the 2012 season in strong fashion, beating Pacific 5-2 in a consolation game at the NorPac Tournament at Longwood University.

UC Davis completed its fourth season since restarting its varsity program with an 8-12 overall record after going 3-3 in the NorPac West Division. Emily Mecke, Maggie Barry, Cloey LemMon and Jamie Garcia scored in the first half for the Aggies while Nadia Namdariadded the final score in the second.

Pacific, which lost to UC Davis for the third time this season including the second time in the past week, finished its year with a 5-14 record.

"It felt great to be able to go out on a positive note and see the team and the seniors have a successful and fun game," said Aggie coach Vianney Campos. "Their hard work for the last four years is invaluable and I will truly miss them.

"Thanks to the foundation they have set, this program is headed in a great direction," she added. "I am so proud of this year's team and we are ready to start the training for next year's season."

In all, six seniors had a hand in the team's scoring in the season finale.

Three seniors scored for UC Davis during Friday's win while senior Conley Craven and Danielle Herringtonhelped keep the Tigers in check by combining for five saves.

Mecke and Barry, both seniors, helped the Aggies get off to a quick start with goals in the first 7 minutes, 5 seconds of the game. Mecke had a breakaway in the fifth minute, pulling up for a hard shot in the circle that helped UC Davis get off to a quick 1-0 start.

Barry followed less than three minutes later, taking an assist from senior Ashley Haight in front of the cage to make it 2-0. LemMon then pushed the score to 3-0, converting a pass through the defense from Sophia Lisaiusin front of the cage in the 17th minute.

Leading 3-1 late in the first half, freshman Jamie Garcia scored on a rebound after a penalty corner, giving UC Davis a 4-1 lead at the break. A trio of seniors teamed for the Aggies' final goal when Namdari took assists from Kelly Dudek and Amanda Marinacon a direct corner in the 62nd minute.

Paige Counsman and Melissa Maultsby scored goals for Pacific with Maultsby adding an assist. Jenna Vivian had the other assist for the Tigers.

The Aggies' eight wins are the most for the program in their four years while their second-place finish in the NorPac West Division was another team-best.

The season brought to a close the careers of 11 outstanding seniors who helped shape the program during its formative years. They were honored during last week's home finale against Pacific.

UC Davis also won a game at the NorPac Tournament for the third consecutive season.
