DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's field hockey team has received prestigious academic distinction by receiving a 2012 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I Academic Team Award while six Aggies earned mention on the Division I Academic Squad.

The Team Award is presented to programs that have a team GPA of 3.0 or higher while Academic Squad members have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

Three of the six Aggies recognized on the Academic Squad are four-year honorees. Seniors Kelly Dudek (civil engineering), Amanda Marinac (communication) and Emily Mecke (environmental science & management) have earned distinction each year throughout their UC Davis careers.

Junior Emily Costa (managerial economics), freshman Hannah Drawbridge (undeclared) and freshman Martha Duterte (undeclared) were also honored after outstanding achievements in the classroom. Costa was honored last year as well.

The awards are administered by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
