DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis field hockey hosts Pacific Sunday afternoon as it resumes NorPac Conference action at Aggie Stadium. It will be the second straight home game for the Aggies, who hosted then-No. 14 Stanford last Sunday. Gametime between UC Davis and Pacific is set for 1 p.m.
In addition, UC Davis is partnering with Longstreth Women's Sports in the Play 4 The Cure movement as schools throughout the nation play in support of breast cancer awareness and attempt to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation as well as the American Cancer Society. The Aggies will be offering Play 4 The Cure wrist bands for $1 as well as UC Davis Field Hockey/Play 4 The Cure t-shirts for $10. Fans make also make any donations they wish while at the game.
UC Davis (3-5) is coming off a 5-1 loss to the Cardinal in its NorPac opener. Lindsey Valadez scored the team's lone goal in the second half on her way to NorPac West Division Rookie of the Week honors. It was the second time in three weeks the Aggie freshman received the honor. Sunday's game will be the first regular season match-up between the two teams. They met in a scrimmage on Aug. 22 at Aggie Stadium.
Pacific enters the week with a 2-5 record overall and a 1-0 mark in the NorPac. The Tigers face Stanford Friday before taking on the Aggies on Sunday. Their wins have come against Missouri State and California while their last three outings have resulted in losses to Lafayette, Maine and Hofstra.
Sunday's game will end the Aggies' two-game homestand. UC Davis will then play its next five games on the road before returning home on Oct. 25.
