RADFORD, Va. – Less than 24 hours after her team preserved its undefeated record at home, the NorPac rewarded Agustina Singh for her efforts in last week’s games by naming her West Division Rookie of the Week.
In addition to recording a team-high two shots against the Golden Bears last Sunday, the freshman forward found the back of the cage for the first time this season to extend UC Davis’ lead to a two-goal margin seven minutes into the second half.
“I tried to take a shot at the top of the circle, but saw a Cal player in front of me ready to block my attempt. I took it towards their goal and thought I drew a penalty corner; since nothing was called, I took a cross that hit the back of the cage,” said Singh regarding her inaugural goal scored as an Aggie after weaving her way around numerous Cal defenders.
Excited, yet relieved to score her first goal, the Aggies’ leading shot taker said following the game, “I’m ready to score many more goals, let them shower down upon my team.”
Since day one, Singh has led the team in shots, and will enter Friday’s matchup against Pacific with 29 to her credit.
With Pacific forced to play all of its home games in Berkeley this season due to the construction of its own facility, Friday’s road game against the Tigers will take place at Maxwell Family Field. Action from UC Berkeley will begin at 3 p.m.
