BOSTON - Thanks to a six-save performance, which helped UC Davis earn a 2-0 shutout victory in last Friday’s Senior Day victory vs. Cal, junior goalkeeper Beth Lee earned this season’s final Defensive Player of the Week award, as announced by America East Conference officials Monday morning.
Lee snagged her third shutout victory of the season by keeping Cal’s offense in check throughout the Aggies’ entire season finale. Outside of a brief flurry of shots and corners, earned by the Golden Bears midway through the first half, the San Diego native was rarely tested throughout the rest of the match and turned away every other scoring opportunity with ease.
Her effort, combined with two first-half goals, helped UC Davis record its second Senior Day win over Cal in as many seasons.
The communication major will enter Thursday’s 2:30 p.m. quarterfinal vs. Albany ranked No. 21 in the nation in saves per game (5.94) and No. 29 in save percentage (.716).
