PEORIA, Ariz. - Junior sociology major Samantha Hutchison and sophomore managerial economics major Christine Danielsson each shot 3-under after the first 36 holes at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin at the Westbrook Village Golf Club’s Vistas Course, to lead all UC Davis players after the first day of action in Peoria, Ariz.

Each will enter Monday’s final 18 holes tied for 12th place among a leaderboard that features a slew of golfers representing the top teams in the nation.

By shooting 72 and 69 for rounds one and two on Sunday, Hutchison has now carded five straight rounds of par or better. Her second round featured consistent play with four birdies, in addition to pars recorded on eight consecutive holes to post the lowest individual score of any Aggie (3-under) on Sunday.

During her opening round, Danielsson recorded a birdie on four of six holes to finish 2-under. Thanks to birdies on holes 14, 15 and 17, she enjoyed a strong finish and ended her day with a 1-under round score.

Sophomore undeclared major Yoonhee Kim shaved one stroke off her opening round 74 throughout her second round, and finished with a 3-over 54, which ties her for 54th place. Sophomore psychology major Rei Nakatani and freshman psychology major Hannah Sun each fared five strokes better during their second trip through the Vistas Course as well. Nakatani will enter Monday’s final round in 75th place after posting a 78 and 73, Sun is tied for 78th following rounds of 79 and 74.

By shooting a 4-over 580 as a team, UC Davis will also enter the final round in 12th place within striking distance of another top 10 finish.

Nebraska, a team the Aggies defeated earlier this season at the East-West Match Play, leads second place Oklahoma by two strokes with its 20-under 556 score. Oklahoma’s Kaitlin Milligan recorded a 14-under 130 to lead all individuals.
