MADISON, Wisc. - UC Davis has upset some of the top programs in the nation at the East-West Match Play in recent seasons, and after Monday's action at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisc., Nebraska became the latest name on a list of teams -- one that also includes Michigan and Wisconsin -- that suffered a loss thanks the Aggies.

By defeating the Cornhuskers, 3-2, UC Davis will now face Oregon State Tuesday morning during the event's final day.

Samantha Hutchison and Christine Danielsson recorded individual victories over Kate Smith and Noor Ahmed, by respective results of 3&1 and 4&2, but it was Rei Nakatani who recorded the highlight victory of the day by topping Annie Sritragul in their epic marathon.

In the longest individual match of the day, it was Nakatani's surge throughout the back nine that forced additional holes. Down by as many as three in this match play tournament, Nakataki outplayed Sritragul on the 13th, 15th and final hole to finish all square through 18.

After eight holes of identical scores, it was Nakatani that brought a swift ending to this duel by finishing one stroke lower than her counterpart on hole 27.

UC Davis drew Nebraska as Monday's opponent after shooting plus-16 as a team throughout Sunday's 36-hole stroke play, earning a spot in a bracket also occupied Michigan and Oregon State.

The Aggies drew tomorrow's meeting with the Beavers after the latter downed the Wolverines by a similar 3-2 team score.

During Sunday's 36-hole stroke play, it was Yoonhee Kim that led UC Davis' contingent thanks to an outstanding second round.

After her first 18 holes, Kim sat tied for 36th place after posting a 5-over score of 77. On her second tour of the course, she rebounded in impressive fashion by shooting 2-under -- one of the five lowest individuals scores recorded that round -- to finish tied for 15th with a combined score of plus-3.

Danielsson and Hutchison finished Sunday's action tied for 18th at plus-4; Hannah Sun's plus-8 helped her finish the day at plus-8; Madison Wood earned a top-40 individual finish with her combined plus-11 result.

Tuesday's UC Davis-Oregon State matchup will begin at 7:33 a.m. (PT)/9:33 a.m. local time when Danielsson and the Beavers' Olivia Benzin take the course for their respective teams.
