DAVIS, Calif. - Christine Danielsson and Madison Wood led UC Davis during the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate, hosted by Condoleezza Rice, by finishing with matching 2-over individual results, and the Aggies posted a team score of 301, placing the team in 12th place entering the final 18 holes of the tournament.
UC Davis will compete alongside Oregon and Iowa State during Wednesday’s final round.
Wood began her day under par after recording a birdie on the first hole of the morning, then enjoyed a stellar back nine by shooting 1-under after the turn. In addition to birdying the 12th hole, she shot par on the other eight holes to enter the clubhouse with a 2-over 73 on the day.
By shooting even par throughout her final nine holes, Danielsson also ended her day with a 2-over 73, and leads all Aggies with a cumulative 3-over 145, which places her tied for 14th place alongside four others.
Wood, will enter the final 18 holes of her team’s fall season tied for 43rd with teammates Samantha Hutchison and Yoonhee Kim. All three will return to the course tomorrow morning at 8-over (150) through 36 holes.
Highlighted by her eagle on the par-4 14th hole, Hutchison shot 2-over on the back nine and finished at 5-over for the day.
The second round was a tough one for a majority of the field; led by Northwestern’s Hanna Kim and her 1-under effort, only six golfers will enter Wednesday with an individual score that is under par.
Stanford, the host school, maintained its lead by shooting 3-over as a team and is the only school to shoot under par (-1) so far this week.
