DAVIS, Calif. - Demi Runas, who had a pair of second-place finishes for the highly ranked UC Davis women's tennis team in February, was named the Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for the fourth consecutive time.
Runas, a senior from Torrance who is ranked 13th by Golfstat, helped lead the No. 13 Aggies to a pair of top-four finishes at the Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford and the Cal Classic earlier this week.
Runas, who is also the two-time reigning Big West Player of the Year, opened her spring season by tying for second at Stanford in mid-February. She shot a 2-under 69 in the first round and then was even during the second, finishing 2-under 140 for the event. She was just one of four players to break par in the tournament.
She continued her strong month at the inaugural Cal Classic on Monday and Tuesday this week, shooting a 1-under 71 in the first round and finishing even for the 36-hole tournament.
Runas won the final Big West Golfer of the Month honor for the 2011-12 season and both awards during the fall season.
Both tournaments featured several highly ranked teams. The Aggies finished third at Stanford and fourth at Cal. They'll return to action next week at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational at San Jose State.
