RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. -- The UC Davis women's golf team makes it final tuneup before becoming an official member of the Big West Conference next season when it competes in the league's championship tournament for the second consecutive year on Monday and Tuesday at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita.

The Aggies, in the final year of a four-year reclassification to Division I status, are not eligible to contend for the league championship but are competing as individuals. UC Davis returns three players that competed at last year's event - Bryana Gregory, Jee Park and Kelsey Fischer. Kimberly Johnson and Sydney Roughton will round out the Aggies' lineup at this year's event.

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday before concluding with 18 on Tuesday at the par 72, 6,059-yard course.

Fisher was ninth last year, Gregory tied for 11th and Park tied for 14th for UC Davis which would've finished second had it been eligible for the team championship. UC Irvine, which is the No.1 seed this season and has the defending medalist in Selanee Henderson, captured last year's Big West Conference championship by 43 strokes.

UC Davis has not competed since tying for 10th at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate at Stanford on Apr. 6-7. The Aggies have finished in the top five in seven of their nine tournaments this season, including a win at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational in the fall and second-place showings at the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational at Oregon State, the Bronco Fall Invitational at Boise State and the Lady Braveheart Challenge at UC Riverside.

Gregory leads UC Davis with a 74.8 avg. She's posted four top-five finishes with a low round of 68 this season. Johnson is at 76.7, Roughton at 77.5, Park at 77.7 and Fischer at 79.5. As a team, the Aggies are averaging 305.6 strokes per round.

The Big West Conference Championship is the final tournament of the season for UC Davis.
