DUPONT, Wash. - UC Davis golfer Blair Lewis shot a 2-over 146 during two rounds of stroke play, advancing to the first round of match play on Wednesday at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington.
Lewis, who will be entering her senior season this fall and has been a member of three Big West championship teams, was in fifth place after Monday's first round before finishing in a tie for 41st. She'll open match play in the round of 64 against Cassy Isagawa of Wailuku, Hawaii at 1:09 p.m. Isagawa tied for 17th in stroke play at 2 under.
Lewis opened the tournament with a 2-under 70 after posting four birdies, 12 pars and just two bogeys on the 6,278-yard course on Monday. She had two birdies in Tuesday's round, playing each side of the course 2 over.
Lewis, who is from La Mesa, qualified for this week's national championship after earning co-medalist honors during qualifying at the Reserve at Spanos Park Golf Club in Stockton in May.
The tournament will continue with the round of 32 and round of 16 on Thursday, the quarterfinals and semifinals on Friday and the championship match on Saturday.
