DuPONT, Wash. - Blair Lewis rallied from three holes down late in her round of 64 match on Tuesday against Cassy Isagawa of Hawaii, before the UC Davis senior-to-be was eliminted on the second extra hole at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship at The Home Course.
Lewis, who advanced to match play at the national championship tournament after finishing tied for 41st in stroke play, was down by three holes with just five remaining before two birdies and a par on the 14th through 16th holes knotted the showdown.
Both players posted pars on the final two holes and also on the first extra hole - the par-4, 367-yard, first hole - before Lewis carded a bogey and Isagawa a par on the decisive next hole. Isagawa later advanced to the round of 16.
Lewis helped highlight her week at the prestigious tournament with a 2-under 70 in the first round of stroke play on Monday. She'll return this fall for UC Davis as it seeks its sixth consecutive conference championship.
