DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's golf team, which has already finished twice in two tournaments, and was fourth in another for a strong start to the 2012-13 season, is No. 7 in the first Golfstat rankings of the season, its highest placing ever.
The Aggies were 13th in the early part of last season - their previous best - and it was an indicator of things to come as UC Davis went on to win its third straight Big West Championship and earn its fourth NCAA West Regional berth.
UC Davis is the highest mid-major school in the rankings. Arizona holds down the No. 1 position and is followed by Duke, Florida, Purdue, Arizona State, Wahington, UC Davis, USC, Michigan State and Vanderbilt in the top 10.
The Aggies are also prominently featured in the Golfweek rankings, sitting in 11th place.
UC Davis is at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the University of Washington, beginning Monday.
