IRVINE, Calif. - UC Davis' Demi Runas, whose 7-under par performance at the Golfweek Conference Challenge last week in Colorado earned her medalist honors for the third time in her career, was named the Big West Women's Golfer of the Month for September, it was announced on Thursday.
Runas, a senior from Torrance who has earned the honor three previous times in her career, was recognized this time for a strong showing in Colorado. She had a tournament-record 5-under 67 in the second round and was below par in the other two rounds, posting a three-shot win and helping the Aggies finish second.
Runas was named the Golfweek Player of the Week on Monday for her performance at the tournament.
She began her season with a tie for 13th-place at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at New Mexico, highlighting her tournament with a 1-under 72 in the final round.
UC Davis, which has two runners-up and a fourth-place finish in the early part of the fall season, has achieved another notable feat for the program. The Aggies are currently ranked seventh in the first Golfstat poll of the 2012-13 season.
