UC Davis Readies For Hoosier Fall Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Eight teams ranked in Golfstat's top 100, including the No. 41 UC Davis women's golf team, will converge on Hickory Stick Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday for the Hoosier Fall Invitational, hosted by Indiana University.

The Aggies are among three teams ranked in the top 40, a trio which also includes No. 22 Illinois and No. 40 Louisville. UC Davis, which has two top-five finishes in its four tournaments so far, will be taking part in the Hoosier Fall Invitational for the first time. 

 UC Davis will take six players to the tournament with five making up the Aggies' scoring contingent and the other playing as an individual. Beverly Vatananugulkit, who placed third at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the University of Washington on Oct. 8-9, will be joined by Betty Chen, Andrea Wong, Paige Lee, Jessica Chulya and Blair Lewis.

They'll be facing a field that also includes Ball State, Boston College, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, No. 55 Minnesota, No. 74 Nebraska, No. 72 Penn State, No. 68 Purdue, Rutgers, No. 83 Toledo and Xavier.
Teams will play 36 continuous holes beginning with a shotgun start at 5:30 a.m. (Pacific) and then follow with the final round at 6 a.m. (Pacific) on Sunday.



The course will play to 6,062 yards and a par 71.

The tournament is the fifth of six events for the Aggies this fall who will finish the early part of their season at Stanford next weekend. They've highlighted their fall with a second-place finish at the Golfweek Conference Challenge and a fifth-place at the New Mexico's Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.

Vatananugulkit and Chen lead the Aggies in scoring at 75.1 strokes.
