IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Demi Runas was named the Big West Golfer of the Month on Friday for the second time this fall and the fourth time in her career after a pair of top-10 finishes for the UC Davis women's golf team in October.
Runas, from Torrance, Calif., led UC Davis at all three of its tournaments during the month, tying for second at Northwestern's Windy City Collegiate Classic in early October, then following with a seventh-place showing at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the University of Washington a week later.
She tied for 21st among 90 golfers at the Stanford Intercollegiate in mid-October, capping her weekend there with a 2-under 69, her best score of the month. She finished 1 under overall at Northwestern, posting a 2-under 70 in the final round and then was 6-over 222 for her top-10 showing at Washington.
Runas averaged 72.8 strokes over her nine rounds. She was also the conference's Golfer of the Month for September, highlighting that month with medalist honors at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Colorado.
The Aggies are finished with their fall season and will resume action at Stanford's Peg Barnard Invitational in September.
