Also competed on floor eight times, posting season-high 9.650 at MPSF Championships... Earned MPSF Gymnast of the Week nod after scoring 9.850 and 9.825 in back-to-back meets at Alaska Anchorage... 2007: ALL-MPSF FIRST TEAM on uneven bars, finishing with conference-best 9.735 RQS... Appeared in eight meets on bars, losing most of February due to injury... Made collegiate debut with 9.750 (plus 9.600 exhibition vault) vs. San Jose State... Finished season strong, scoring 9.725 at Sacramento State, 9.800 in home quad with Sac/San Jose State/Cal, then hit 1st-place and season-high 9.825 at MPSF Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Graduated from Woodcrest Christian HS in 2006... Made High Honor Roll (GPA of 3.8 or higher) every year... Competed for Southern California Elite Gymnastics... Placed 2nd on bars at Level 10 state meet, then finished 8th on vault, 11th on bars at regionals in 2005... Won bars and all-around titles at Level 9 state meet in 2003, then advanced to Western Nationals, where she placed 3rd on vault and all-around... Earned team MVP honors that season.
PERSONAL: Born in Glendale, Calif.... Majoring in animal science... Parents are Christopher & Lida Gehlen... Both parents attended universities overseas: Christopher in Belgium, Lida in Peru... Chose UC Davis because "it has the best veterinary school in the country and provides great academic opportunities in other fields".
