SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sophomore Stephanie Stamates shared the individual win on floor exercise with a 9.850 while UC Davis posted its all-time high for a season opener with a 193.450, finishing fourth at the five-team NorCal Preview in front of 924 at Sacramento State's Hornets' Nest Sunday afternoon.

Stanford won the meet with a 194.825, California finished in a close second at 194.650 while the meet hosts placed third with a 194.400. San Jose State rounded out the field with a 193.325 in fifth place. The Hornets' 194.400 also marks a school record for an opening meet.

Stamates matched the scores by Alicia Asturias of Cal, Julia Greer of San Jose State and Taylor Rice of Stanford for the floor ex victory. Asturias also tied for the beam win at 9.850 and captured the all-around title with a 39.175. For her part, Stamates also led UC Davis on vault with a 9.725 and added a 9.675 on beam.

The Aggies scored 48-plus across the board. They opened with a 48.625 on floor, thanks to a 9.750 from junior Kala DeFrancesco followed by Stamates' 9.850 in the anchor spot. The vault crew went 48.100, with senior Anna Shumaker closing the rotation with a 9.700.

The uneven bars crew scored 48.425, getting a 9.800 from sophomore Dani Judal and a 9.700 out of junior Lisa Wiktorski. Then junior Tiana Montell and senior Madeline Kennedy opened with back-to-back 9.775s to open the beam squad to a 48.300.



UC Davis also had several career debuts: Taylor Baron scored a 9.825 in exhibition on beam while competing on floor for the first time since her junior year in high school. Katy Nogaki, competing in her first meet in two years after being sidelined by a knee injury, hit a 9.625 on vault. Yonni Michovska was the lone Aggie true freshman in the meet with a 9.625 on bars.

UC Davis hosts Alaska Anchorage for its home opener on January 13 in a rare Monday night meet. March-in is scheduled for 7 p.m.
