Gymnasts Score 190.650 In Road Triangular

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Junior Tanya Ho tied for second place on balance beam with a 9.675 score, while Lida Gehlen finished in a sizable tie for third place on uneven bars, helping UC Davis to a 190.650 team score in a women's collegiate triangular gymnastics meet at Spartan Gym Friday night. Host San Jose State won the team title with a 192.375 aggregate, while Brigham Young matched the Aggies' score of 190.650 to tie for second place.

UC Davis moves to 1-2-1 for the season. This is the first time in program history that the Aggies have scored 190 or better in each of their first two meets.

Ho was the Aggies' lone all-arounder, putting together a third-place 37.925 total for her four events. In addition to her beam performance, she added a team-best 9.725 on vault. Gehlen scored a 9.675 on bars to lead UC Davis in that event, while senior Andi Dolinsky and freshman Jennifer Mueller paced the Aggies on floor exercise with scores of 9.725 and 9.700, respectively.

As a team, UC Davis had relatively consistent scores across the four events. The Aggies went 47.725 on vault, 47.550 on bars, a meet-high 47.700 on beam and a 47.675 on floor.

San Jose State claimed three of the four event titles, plus the meet's all-around champion. Senior Veronica Porte won on floor with a 9.875, boosting her winning all-around total of 38.800. Freshman Thomasina Wallace won the uneven bars title at 9.800, while placing second on floor (9.850) and in the all-around (38.475). Sophomore Lily Swann captured the vault win with a 9.800 score.

Krysten Koval highlighted the Cougars' boxscore with a first-place 9.800 on beam and a third-place 9.750 on vault.

Other top Aggie performers were senior Adee Schoffman, who posted a 9.625 on vault; and Mueller, whose 9.650 on beam was second on her team.

 

 

UC Davis returns to action on Friday, January 23 for its home opener against the U.S. Air Force Academy.
