DAVIS, Calif. - Senior Miho Maeda won on uneven bars and shared a victory on floor exercise to capture the individual all-around at 38.875 to lead UC Berkeley to a 190.175 to 187.050 victory over UC Davis in a women's collegiate gymnastics meet at the Pavilion Friday. The meet was held in conjunction with Aggie wrestling's home dual with Cal Poly in the second-annual 'Beauty & The Beast' promotion. The event drew a crowd of 2,144, believed to be a record for a UC Davis regular-season home gymnastics meet.

UC Davis now moves to 1-5 on the season.

Maeda scored a 9.875 to lead a 1-2-3 Cal sweep on bars. My-Lan Dodd finished second at 9.825 and Britani Pittullo and Nicki Wells tied for third in the event with a 9.650. The score marked a career-high for the freshman Wells.

Aggie sophomore Joanne Pizzo was her team's lone event-winner, capturing the vault with a career-best 9.750. UC Davis scored 47.675 in the event as a team, two-tenths higher than Cal. However, the Golden Bears outscored their hosts on bars and beam, and matched the Aggies' 47.450 on floor exercise.

"We're at a point where have to decide on a lineup and stick with it," said UC Davis head coach Ray Goldbar. "We wanted to give as many people as possible a chance to make a team, but we now have to settle in and go for consistency and reliablity."

"We've been at 187 for three meets in a row now, with different events giving us different problems. We need to start hitting and gaining momentum."

Dodd and Maeda each posted 9.775s to share the individual floor win. Freshman Siobhan Luce finished third on floor for Cal, turning a career-high 9.700. Tiffany Chan was the highest floor finisher for UC Davis, scoring 9.625 in the final rotation. Chan also took second on vault at 9.700.

The Aggies struggled on uneven bars, scoring just 45.300; and beam, managing a 46.625 despite strong performances by Chan (9.675) and sophomore Julia Richards (9.500).
