SEATTLE - Senior Michelle Ho picked up meet titles on both uneven parallel bars and floor exercise while senior Katie Yamamura captured the individual vault and all-around wins to lead UC Davis to a winning 194.300 team score in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's gymnastics dual meet at the Royal Brougham Pavilion Friday night. Host Seattle Pacific finished more than two points behind at 192.125.
The Aggies improve to 8-7 for the year.
Ho hit a 9.825 on bars in the meet's opening rotation, edging Yamamura's runner-up score of 9.800. She then went 9.900 in the third rotation, marking the second time she has eclipsed the 9.9 barrier. Ho previously went 9.925 on floor in a home dual with California in early January.
Yamamura's winning 9.800 on vault highlighted her total of 38.925, almost a half-point in front of Falcon sophomore Sydney Clark, who placed second at 38.475. Yamamura also placed second on balance beam with a 9.725 effort, just ahead of the Aggie tandem of Tiana Montell and Anna Shumaker, who each scored 9.700 for a share of third place.
Montell and Shumaker also tied for second on vault with 9.775 scores. They helped UC Davis compile a 48.600 on vault, while Ho and Yamamura led a 48.575 on bars. Junior Madeline Kennedy delivered a career-best 9.800 on floor exercise to place second in the meet and help the Aggies compile a 48.675 as a team. Finally, UC Davis finished off the evening with a 48.450 on beam.
The Aggies' 194.300, which ranks sixth in school history, comes on the heels of a 194.675 at UCLA just five days ago. It also represents the No. 3 road school in program annals, behind the February 10 season best and a 194.350 at the 2004 MPSF Championships in San Jose.
UC Davis finishes up a string of three straight road meets at Sacramento State on February 22.
