SAN JOSE, Calif. - Sophomore Brandi Forte shared second place with a 9.675 on uneven bars while freshman Michelle Kulovitz matched that finish with a 9.625 on beam, highlighting UC Davis' 188.600 team score in a three-team collegiate gymnastics meet at San Jose State's Spartan Gym Saturday. The host Spartans easily won the meet with a 191.150 while Seattle Pacific placed third with a 188.600 team total.

The Aggies, who edged SPU for the second straight evening, move to 4-7 on the year. All three teams are members of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Forte's score matches the season high she set against Sacramento State two weeks ago. Getting a 9.625 by senior Nicole Doherty, UC Davis scored a 47.225 on bars to match that of the Spartans in the event.

Kulovitz's 9.625 and Megan Nakagawa's 9.600 helped the Aggies recover from a slow start on beam to manage a 46.700. Kulovitz also scored a team-best 9.600 on vault and added a 9.650 in the fourth position of the floor exercise lineup. Senior Tiffany Chan also enjoyed a strong performance on floor, scoring 9.750 to anchor a 47.550 team score.

Seattle Pacific's Debra Huss won a very tight battle in the individual all-around as her 38.650 edged San Jose's Greta Leach by the minimum .025 increment. Huss also won the beam at 9.675, ahead of Kulovitz and Spartan Leah Bigelow.

Other event-winners include SJSU's Adriane Mertens on floor and Leach on bars. Furthermore, Michelle Minotti and Shina Cardeno shared the vault win with 9.700 marks.

The Aggies are back in action on February 25 for a road meet at Sacramento State.
