Final Stats

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Freshman Stacey Nicolini tied for first place on vault and sophomore Lida Gehlen picked up her sixth uneven bars win of the season, leading UC Davis to a season-high 192.300 team score in a non-conference collegiate women's gymnastics dual meet at Spartan Gym Friday evening. Host San Jose State won the meet with a 194.300 total.

The Aggies move to 7-3 for the season.

Nicolini scored a 9.800 on vault to share the event title with SJSU senior Raylyn Cardeno, helping UC Davis enjoy a 48.750 in that rotation. Senior Michelle Kulovitz and sophomore Michelle Bobonski added scores of 9.775 on vault, while freshman Marcy Miller and sophomore Tanya Ho chipped in 9.700s.

UC Davis' vault total ranks fifth in school history, and is the second-highest score of the 2008 season behind the team's 48.800 at Air Force last Saturday.

Gehlen posted a 9.800 on bars, winning the event by almost a full tenth of a point. Her mark highlighted a 47.850 on bars, providing the Aggies with a 96.600 at the midway point. UC Davis continued to post season-best team scores on floor exercise (47.975) and balance beam (47.725) in the final two rotations, respectively.

Bobonski led the Aggies and tied for third place overall on beam with a 9.725 in only her second career appearance in the event. Nicolini and Kendall McCann provided 9.675 scores on that apparatus. Kulovitz and junior Adee Schoffman shared the team lead on floor exercise with 9.700 marks in the final two slots of the lineup.

SJSU swept the top three places on beam and floor, as Leah Bigelow won the former at 9.775 while Shanice Howard claimed the final event with a 9.875. Spartan junior Veronica Porte captured the individual all-around with a 38.850 total.
