SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Junior Anna Shumaker matched her career high of 9.850 on vault, helping UC Davis score a season-high 48.800 in that event, but the Aggies fell to host Sacramento State, 194.725-192.825, in a collegiate gymnastics dual meet at the Nest Friday night.

Shumaker's 9.850 led a strong finish to the second rotation. Senior Katie Yamamura scored 9.825 in the anchor spot while sophomore Tiana Montell matched her career best of 9.800 in the No. 4 slot of the lineup in helping UC Davis tie for the No. 3 vault score in school history.

Freshman Stephanie Stamates posted a 9.825 to engage in a three-way tie for first place on floor exercise, matching Hornets Kalliah McCartney and Cayla Beutler. Shumaker went 9.800 and sophomore Kala DeFrancesco added a 9.775 to help the Aggies to a 48.825 in that event. UC Davis' floor also closed the gap to just three tenths in the team standings after three rotations, despite a solid 48.375 on beam by Sacramento State.

However, the Aggies suffered three falls on beam in the fourth rotation to slip to a 47.350. Montell highlighted that rotation with a 9.725 but the overall team score, combined with the Hornets' 48.950 on floor, sealed the third of four head-to-head matchups between the two Causeway Classic rivals.

UC Davis opened with a 47.850 on uneven bars, counting one fall. Nonetheless, sophomore Lisa Wiktorksi continued her run of strong scores on that apparatus, hitting a personal-best 9.800. Freshman Dani Judal (9.750) and Yamamura (9.725) also bolstered the Aggies on bars.

The sophomore McCartney was the top Sac State performer, winning the bars at 9.825 and tying for the floor win to claim the all-around title at 39.325.
