SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sophomore Tanya Ho scored three season-high event scores to compile a career-best all-around of 38.875 to lead UC Davis to a third-place team total of 192.625 in a four-team women's collegiate gymnastics meet at the Hornet's Nest Friday evening. Host Sacramento State won the meet with a season-high 195.250 while California finished second at 193.700. Seattle Pacific placed fourth as a team with a 190.075 total.
The Aggies move to 9-6 for the season.
Ho's all-around total was good for fourth place in the meet. She matched her season best on uneven bars with a 9.775, joining Lida Gehlen's 9.800 to help UC Davis open with a 48.550 in the meet's first rotation. She followed with a team-best and season-high 9.675 on balance beam, then shattered her previous 2008 high with a 9.725 on floor exercise.
Gehlen's score, her seventh at 9.800 or better in 2008, was part of a four-way tie in the uneven bars standings.
The UC Davis vaulters turned in yet another strong performance, totalling a meet-best 48.700. Sophomore Michelle Bobonski and freshman Stacey Nicolini finished 1-2 in the individual event standings on vault, carding scores of 9.850 and 9.825, respectively. Ho (9.700), senior Michelle Kulovitz (9.675) and junior Adee Schoffman (9.650) rounded out the team scoring total, while freshman Ashley Lachman added a 9.550.
Kulovitz added a 9.775 in the anchor position of the floor lineup as the Aggies scored a 47.900 in the third rotation. Lachman and Schoffman aided in the floor effort, providing scores of 9.675 and 9.625, respectively.
Sac State's Marina Borisova won the individual all-around with a 39.200, with teammate Melissa Genovese right behind at 39.125. Genovese scored a school-record 9.950 on balance beam to help her team eclipse the 49-point barrier on that apparatus. She picked up a second win on floor, tying teammate Eryn Stubblefield at 9.875.
