SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Freshman Michelle Kulovitz hit three career-high scores, including a first-place 9.750 on vault to lead UC Davis to a team total of 191.200 in a women's collegiate gymnastics dual meet at the Hornet's Nest Sunday afternoon. Host Sacramento State won the meet with a final tally of 194.525.

The Aggies move to 7-12 on the season.

Kulovitz tied her previous vault best of 9.750 in the second rotation, then scored a 9.750 on floor exercise and 9.675 on balance beam. She and senior Tiffany Chan shared first place on the individual vault, the highest individual finishes for UC Davis in the meet.

Additionally, Kulovitz was also one of four Aggies to hit season- or career-best marks on floor, as the team narrowly missed its first 49-point performance of the year. Chan added a second-place 9.875 on floor, just off her season high. Megan Nakagawa and Andrea Dolinsky each hit 9.775 in that event, while Carolyn Kampf scored 9.800 in the anchor position.

UC Davis opened with a 47.925 on uneven bars, earning a career-high 9.600 from senior Sabrina Seus in just her third appearance in the lineup this season. Arianne Furman followed with a season-best 9.650, then sophomore Brandi Forte scored a career-high 9.850, the highest by any Aggie this season and good for second place in the meet.

The Aggies had a 144.850 cumulative total after three rotations, but struggled to a 46.350 on balance beam. However, the team total will help UC Davis' regional-qualifying mark, removing a previous road mark of 188.600 from the calculation.

"We gave up two points on beam. I thought if we got on a roll, we could score a 193, which would have helped our average," said Aggie head coach Ray Goldbar. "It doesn't affect qualifying for nationals and our average will still go up a little but, but it would have been nice to see what we can do with this lineup."

"We've been on a roll on beam lately, but you can't get disappointed about misses because they happen. They've been doing a good job. We're showing improvement in some areas. We're doing things cleaner and getting some higher scores."

Hornet senior Stefanie Aeder was a double-event winner, taking floor exercise with a 9.900 and claiming beam at 9.850. Teammate Nirvana Zaher won the all-around at 38.975, edging Jessica Hoffman, who scored 38.275.

This is the final regular-season meet of the year for UC Davis, which breaks for final examinations next week. The Aggies return to action on March 25, when they host the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
