BERKELEY, Calif. - Senior Michelle Kulovitz scored a season-high 38.700 in the individual all-around to highlight UC Davis action at a women's collegiate quadrangular meet at California's Haas Pavilion Sunday. The Aggies finished fourth in the meet with a 191.325. San Jose State won the meet at 194.825 while the host Golden Bears scored 194.100 to Cal State Fullerton's 193.950 for second place.
UC Davis evens its record at 9-9.
Kulovitz finished fourth in the all-around and was her team's lone top-three finisher, tying for third place on vault with a 9.800 score. Sophomore Lida Gehlen was the Aggies' next-highest placer, tying for fourth on uneven bars with a 9.825. Sophomore Michelle Bobonski and Tanya Ho each hit season-best marks on bars with scores of 9.800, sharing sixth place in the event. In fact, UC Davis fired out a season-high 48.725 on bars after hitting 48.525 on vault.
Ho and freshman Stacey Nicolini also competed in the all-around during the meet. Ho compiled a 38.175, boosted by her 9.800 on bars. Nicolini recorded a 37.875 total, scoring 9.600s on both vault and bars.
Sophomore Kendall McCann was another Aggie to hit a career-best score. She scored a 9.700 on bars to aid in her team's 6-for-6 effort.
San Jose State's Veronica Porte won the all-around with a 39.150, catching a share of first place on vault at 9.825. Titan freshman Alaina Baker was close behind with a 38.950 while her teammate, Shelly Cooper, was third at 38.825. Cal's Bridgette Glass was a double-event winner, claiming meet titles on bars (9.875) and beam (9.900).
After a brief break for final examinations, the Aggies return to action on Sunday in a home quad meet with Stanford, Sacramento State and San Jose State.
