DENTON, Texas. --- UC Davis sophomore Tiffany Chan successfully defended her floor exercise title while senior teammate Lynn Schwaebe won the individual vault in the individual event championships of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals Saturday at Texas Woman's University. The winning performances mark the fourth straight year that UC Davis had captured at least two event titles.

Chan posted a 9.900 to beat four competitors with 9.850 scores. She had advanced to Saturday's competition as one of four gymnasts to post 9.875s in Thursday's preliminaries. Chan now has two USAG All-America awards -- both of which are national championships -- in as many years.

Schwaebe advanced the meet by virtue of a sixth-place tie in Thursday's prelims, but scored a 9.762 in the final to edge TWU's Luci Romberg by just 0.025. Romberg had entered the national meet as the favorite on vault, having posted a regional-qualfiying average of 9.830 during the regular season.

This is the second All-America award for Schwaebe as she had tied for fourth place in last year's uneven bars competition at nationals.

Stephanie Loudat of TWU and Allison Todd of the U.S. Air Force Academy won the event titles on uneven bars and balance beam, respectively.
