DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis senior Michelle Ho garnered Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week honors for the period ending January 6, it was announced by the conference office Tuesday evening. This is the first such award issued for the 2013 MPSF season and Ho's fifth career nod.
Ho opened the year with 9.800 marks on both uneven parallel bars and floor exercise at the NorCal Quad meet at San Jose State last Friday. Her score on bars tied Stanford's Ashley Morgan for the individual meet win while her floor total was good for second place behind SJSU's Julia Greer. Overall, the Los Altos native and Airborne Gymnastics alumna helped UC Davis to a team score of 191.400, three-tenths better than Causeway Cup rival Sacramento State and good for the highest season-opening score in school history.
Ho won MPSF Gymnast of the Week honors on January 17 and March 20 of last season for her third and fourth such awards. She is a two-time all-conference performer on both bars and floor.
The Aggies return to action in their home opener against California on Friday. Meet time is 7 p.m. at the Pavilion. Tickets are available at tickets.ucdavis.edu.
