DAVIS, Calif. - Sophomore Tanya Ho was selected as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week for January 6-12, it was announced by the conference office late Tuesday. This is the first weekly award issued for the 2008 season, and the second career honor for Ho.
The Elk Grove, Calif. product tied for first place on vault and placed third in the all-around during UC Davis' season-opening triangular with California and Towson last Friday. Ho scored 9.825 on vault to share the event win with Cal's Joanna Bennett, and added a 9.675 on uneven bars en route to a 38.225 all-around total.
Ho earned similar MPSF honors on January 30, 2007 after claiming the vault win in a four-team road meet at Cal State Fullerton. She went on to capture All-MPSF distinction in three events, earn an at-large berth at the NCAA Regional, and share her team's Gymnast of the Year award as a freshman.
UC Davis returns to action on Friday for a home quadrangular with Seattle Pacific, San Jose State and Springfield.
