DAVIS, Calif. - Junior Lisa Wiktorski became the first UC Davis gymnast to claim a conference weekly award, taking down Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Specialist of the Week honors for the period ending January 19, it was announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly honor for the Huntington Beach, Calif. native.

Wiktorski, a returning All-MPSF performer on uneven bars, tied her career best of 9.850 in that event during Saturday's quad meet at Washington. She finished in a tie for third place in a tough field that included the host Huskies plus Arizona State and San Jose State.

A true Aggie success story, Wiktorski was a Junior Olympics qualifier during her club days with Team OC but had sat out almost a full year from competition by the time she enrolled at UC Davis. Nonetheless, he worked herself into the bars lineup as a freshman, then rebounded from a slow start to capture all-conference honors as a sophomore. Wiktorski first hit 9.850 in a home dual with SJSU on March 1, 2013.

This is the first season the MPSF has split up its weekly awards program, also honoring a Gymnast of the Week and Newcomer of the Week. San Jose State's Cami Guyer claimed the former while Sacramento State freshman Julia Konner snared the latter award.

UC Davis hosts Stanford, San Jose State and Utah State in a quadrangular meet on Sunday. The meet kicks off at 1 p.m. at the Pavilion.
