DAVIS, Calif. - Four UC Davis gymnasts captured Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic accolades, the conference office announced Friday afternoon. Alphabetically, the Aggie honorees are sophomore Kara Jones, senior Rachel Kreager, senior Katy Nogaki and sophomore Aya Suzuki.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must hold a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, have at least sophomore academic standing, have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season, and have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's competitions during that year. Exhibition appearances do not count toward competition totals.
This is the fourth such honor for Nogaki, the second for Kreager and first for both Jones and Suzuki. Suzuki also owns the highest GPA of the four Aggie honorees with her 3.77 in environmental science & management.
UC Davis finished the 2017 season ranked 42nd nationally with a 195.105 regional-qualifying score. The Aggies also placed second at the MPSF Championships back in March.
