DAVIS, Calif. - A total of 10 UC Davis women's gymnastics plus the team at large were honored as part of the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Academic Awards program. Collectively, the Aggies compiled a 3.4700 grade-point average to rank 10th nationally and highest among the West Region teams.

Alphabetically, the UC Davis honorees are sophomore Lauren Eller, junior Ashley Lachman, sophomore Betsy Lim, senior Kendall McCann, junior Marcy Miller, junior Stacey Nicolini, junior Jessica Rea, senior Christine Tao, sophomore Erika Van Dyke and freshman Katie Yamamura. The trio of Tao, Van Dyke and Yamamura compiled grade-point averages between 3.9 and 4.0 to rank among the nationally individual leaders.

Student-athletes with a 3.50 or better GPA during the 2009-10 academic year earned recognition by the NACGC/W.

Southern Utah reclaimed its national team GPA title with a combined 3.8923 during the previous school year, edging two-time champion Southeast Missouri State's 3.8905. Perhaps not coincidentally, Springfield College -- the alma mater of Aggie head coach John Lavallee -- appeared just ahead of UC Davis with a 3.4830 GPA.

Among the West schools, Boise State checked in at No. 11 just behind UC Davis with a 3.4689 average, Stanford was 17th at 3.4307 and Seattle Pacific listed 29th at 3.559.

Furthermore, a total of 67 student-athletes compiled GPAs of 4.000, including 13 from SEMO.

UC Davis went 13-4 in dual competition during 2010, won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title and qualified three athletes to the NCAA Los Angeles Regional in April. The team's final regional-qualifying score of 193.885 set a school record and ranked 39th nationally. Academically, the Aggies won their second consecutive Marya Welch Award for the highest cumulative GPA among UC Davis' women's teams.
