DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis women's gymnastics has signed prospective student-athlete Kendall McCann of Belmont, Calif. to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) for the 2005-06 signing class. McCann, who graduated from Carlmont High School in June, is expected to enroll at the university for the fall of 2006.
McCann competed for San Mateo Gymnastics Club for 10 years, where she twice advanced to national meets. In 2003, she captured the uneven bars title at the Region 1 meet to earn her second berth at the Level 10 National competition. Her best finish at the 2003 nationals was on balance beam, tying for eighth place. McCann also competed at the Region 1 and State Level 10 meets in both 2005 and 2006.
McCann is the third NLI signee for UC Davis women's gymnastics this season. Lida Gehlen of Riverside and Tanya Ho of Elk Grove each committed to the program during the fall signing period.
The Aggies will begin its first season under the guidance of new coach John Lavallee in January 2007. UC Davis placed second at the USAG Collegiate Nationals in 2006.
