Box Score

DENVER, Colo. - Freshman attack Katie McMahon scored three goals - including the last two scores in regulation play - but Denver claimed victory in overtime to beat UC Davis, 12-10, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse game at Pioneer Field Sunday.

The Aggies drop to 1-2 on the season and in MPSF games. The Pioneers improve to 2-1, both overall and in conference.

UC Davis led 4-3 at the half, then stretched the lead to 7-3 early in the second half. Megan O'Connor, Naomi Coffman and Jessie Donohoue each scored within the first 11 minutes after the break to build the margin. However, Denver responded with a 6-0 run over the next nine minutes to regain the lead. Steph Greenlees scored two of her three goals, while Patience Baldwin had a goal and assist in that stretch.

Coffman ended the tear by converting a pass from Kelly Albin, cutting the Pioneers' lead to 9-8 with 9:16 remaining in the second half. But DU junior Tara Bourdelaise tacked on an unassisted goal in the 54th minute to push her team's lead to 10-8.

McMahon responded with an unassisted goal at 54:34, then again at 58:13 to force the overtime period. With the score tied at 10-10 after regulation, Bourdelaise and Kate Broderick tacked on goals to lift the Pioneers to the win.

In addition to McMahon's hat trick, Coffman, Albin and O'Connor each added two goals. Attacker Leslie Kado recorded a game-high three assists for UC Davis. Kristen Braasch saved 18 of the Pioneers' 37 total shots. Braasch also collected a team-best five ground balls around the Aggie cage.

For Denver, Greenlees and Bourdelaise each had three goals, while Patience Baldwin posted two goals and two assists. Kate Broderick also scored a pair of goals for the Pioneers. Steph Schneider recorded 10 saves in net, just less than half of the Aggies' 22 total attempts.
