COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Senior attack wing Jaime Fitzpatrick
exploded for three of her four total goals in the first seven minutes of
play to lead UC Davis to a 7-6 win over Colorado College in a women's collegiate
lacrosse game at Stewart Field Saturday.
UC Davis moves to 2-3 on the season. The Tigers open their year at 0-1
Fitzpatrick converted an assist from Leslie Kado a mere 75 seconds into
the contest for the first goal, then scored on an assist from Stacy Sugarman
at the 2:46 mark. She added an unassisted goal in the seventh minute before
both teams held each other scoreless for the next 13 minutes. Alyse Richards
set up Helen Sneath for a goal in the 20th minute to cut the halftime margin
to a 3-2 lead for UC Davis.
Sugarman added a goal in the first minute of second-half play, but Cassie
Abel scored three unanswered goals in a 1:44 span to give Colorado a 5-4
lead. Sugarman set up freshman Tiffany Lee for the game-tying goal at the
39:01 mark, then Fitzpatrick but the Aggies ahead for good with her successful
free-position attempt in the 46th minute.
Liz Collett added a free-position goal for UC Davis at 17:14 and Richards
again connected to Sneath for a Tiger goal with 2:15 remaining.
Kristen Braasch posted 11 saves in net for the Aggies while her Tiger
counterpart had 20.
The Aggies remain in Colorado for a game against Regis University Sunday.
