Final Stats

SAN DIEGO - Junior midfielder Elizabeth Landry had two goals and a game-high eight draw controls to lead UC Davis, but San Diego State outscored its guests by an 11-2 margin in the second half to take a 17-8 victory in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse action at Aztec Lacrosse Field Sunday afternoon.

The Aggies fall to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in MPSF play. The Aztecs improve to 6-1 for the season and remain undefeated in conference at 3-0.

Landry, senior Carly Voris and sophomore Mary Doyle each had two goals for UC Davis. Midfielders Courtney Neff and Morgan Sissler added one apiece. UC Davis won the battle for draw controls, 16-10, but struggled to just 1-for-10 shooting on eight-meter opportunities.

For SDSU, senior attacker Meris Walsh and junior Christina Ricciardulli netted four goals each. Freshman Katrina Reeves tallied 15 saves against the eight Aggie goals.

The Aggies held a 5-2 lead late in the first half, getting two from Voris in the 11th and 12th minutes plus back-to-back by Landry in the 23rd and 24th. However, Bailey Ewing scored two goals in a 4-0 comeback run for SDSU, putting the Aztecs up by one with 20 seconds left. Doyle won the next draw and went straight to the cage to tie the contest at 6-6 at the break.

San Diego State exploded in the second half with seven straight, including goals by Walsh, Ricciardulli and Vickie Porter during the first six minutes after the break. The Aggies managed only 2-for-15 shooting in the second half, with Doyle breaking up the Aztec streak with an unassisted goal in the 54th minute, and Sissler taking quick advantage of a Landry draw control at the three-minute mark.

The Aggies have a quick break for final examinations, hosting Towson in a 5 p.m. game on Saturday.
