MORAGA, Calif. - Sophomore Taylor Cuenin and junior Kelsey DeJesus each scored four goals while Kate Fellner added a hat trick and two assists in front of her hometown crowd, as UC Davis defeated Saint Mary's College, 20-6, in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse Sunday.
The Aggies improve to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Sophomore Shannon Cross, freshman Rylie Siegfried and freshman Amanda Outcalt also chipped in two goals apiece for UC Davis, which outshot its host by a 37-12 margin. Coss also had two assists, while Cuenin supplemented her scoring output with six draw controls, three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Freshman Sorana Larson came off the bench for another four draw controls and a goal. Junior Emily Mack scored two goals to lead five Saint Mary's scorers. Despite giving up the game's first score in the second minute, the Aggies scored 11 unanswered goals in the span of 17 minutes to take early control of the contest. They led 13-3 at the half, with Cuenin and DeJesus already completing hat tricks before the break. Senior Lauren Ali and sophomore Grace Richards split up the goalkeeping chores for UC Davis, reach surrendering just three goals with a pair of saves. Sunday's game closes out the winter quarter for the Aggies, who will break for final examinations. The string of six straight road games resumes with a Spring Break road trip at UMBC (March 28), Mount Saint Mary's (Mar. 30) and Drexel (April 2).
