PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Freshman attack wing Katie McMahon matched her career high of six goals while senior center Naomi Coffman added five as UC Davis tied its team scoring record in a 23-11 win over Gannon in a non-conference women's lacrosse game held at Temple University Saturday afternoon.

UC Davis, ranked fourth nationally by Inside Lacrosse magazine, improves to 5-2 on the season. Gannon drops to 4-2 overall.

McMahon and Coffman were two of four total Aggies converting hat tricks. Senior Kelly Albin had four goals and two assists, while Leslie Kado had a 3-2-5 line. Stacy Sugarman posted a game-high seven ground balls.

The 23-goal output matches UC Davis' school record, set almost exactly one year ago against Lees-McRae (N.C.). Additionally, the 34 total goals sets an Aggie mark for combined goals.

The Aggies scored three goals within the first five minutes, then expanded the margin to a 10-1 lead after 24 minutes of play. Coffman scored three straight in a span of 2:46 as part of that onslaught. UC Davis led 12-5 at the break.

"It was a great way to start our Spring Break trip. The team came out on fire and scored first. That has been our goal for every game - we want to score first, get the momentum, keep the momentum and never let a team get back into it," said Elaine Jones. "We're excited that we executed well, but we needed to work a little bit tighter defensively against cutters. We were a little loose, and it's how [Gannon] got their goals."

Just as the Aggies opened the first half with a quick lead, Albin wasted no time scoring in the second half, converting a pass from McMahon just 10 seconds into the frame. McMahon scored three times in the second half, including her sixth goal with 5:57 remaining in the game. However, she was called for a second yellow card less than a minute later, removing her from the game and ending her bid to match the school single-game record.
