WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior midfielder Kelly Albin posted three goals and three assists for six total points, leading UC Davis to a 15-8 win over Howard University in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Greene Stadium Sunday.

The Aggies, ranked fourth nationally by Inside Lacrosse magazine, improves to 6-2 on the year. The Bison fall to 1-7 overall.

Albin was one of three UC Davis players to perform hat tricks. Senior attack Leslie Kado had three goals with two assists while freshman Katie McMahon also came off the bench to score three goals. Sophomore Tiffany Lee earned a starting nod for the game, responding with two goals and an assist.

All three of Lee's points came in the opening 10 minutes of play, helping the Aggies hold a 6-2 first-half advantage. She converted a Leslie Kado assist, then set up Megan O'Connor for UC Davis' second goal, then scored again on an assist from Albin. Naomi Coffman converted a free-position shot to put the Aggies up, 4-0, but Howard's Brittany Merritt ended the run with her own free-position goal less a minute later.

"We had some different people score today, so that was good to see. I thought it was a good overall effort," said UC Davis head coach Elaine Jones. "Our transition worked well. We moved the ball and got to score on a bunch of fast breaks. "

The Bison opened up second-half action with a Meagan Fitzgerald goal just 36 seconds after the break, but Aggie midfielder Stacy Sugarman assisted on Kado's second goal just 10 seconds later and Albin scored at the 31:45 mark to extend her team's lead. Fitzgerald answered back in the 36th minute to cut the margin to 8-4, but McMahon added a pair of scores in the 44th and 45th minutes. O'Connor assisted Albin at 44:50 to push UC Davis ahead by 11-4.

O'Connor and Sugarman each finished with a goal and an assist. Goalie Kristen Braasch had 13 saves in net against 28 total Bison shots.

Fitzgerald led Howard with three goals, defensive wing Shannon Morris scored twice and Merritt added a goal and assist. Merritt also won a game-high seven draws. Goalkeeper Maya Watkins recorded 19 saves.

UC Davis finishes the first of two East Coast trips with a game at Longwood University Tuesday.
