RICHMOND, Va. - Freshman attacker Mandy Friend scored five goals with three assists while older sister Ashley, a junior midfielder, added four goals to lead Richmond to a 17-6 victory over UC Davis in non-conference women's collegiate lacrosse action at First Market Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

The Aggies snap their four-game winning streak, falling to 5-4 on the season. The Spiders, ranked ninth in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association D-I poll, improves to 8-2 overall.

Junior Katie McMahon, who currently leads all D-I players at 4.38 goals per game, led UC Davis with four goals and an assist. Sophomores Katie McGovern and Alden Monger each added one goal. Aggie goalie Hilary Harkins posted 14 saves in net, having faced a total of 39 Spider shots.

The Friend sisters scored three goals in the first four minutes of play as part of a 10-0 Richmond start. UC Davis finally reached the scoreboard at the 22:58 mark, as McMahon assisted McGovern on the first of three unanswered Aggie goals to end the period. The Spiders led 10-3 at the break, holding a 22-8 advantage in shots.

Richmond started the second half in a similar fashion to the first, scoring six straight goals out of the gates. Mandy Friend had two goals and an assist during that run, and Allison Nuzzi picked up a pair of assists. UC Davis ended the run with 9:52 left to play on back-to-back goals by McMahon.

The Spiders finished the game with a 39-16 shooting margin and a 16-5 edge in ground balls. Richmond is the highest-ranked Division I program UC Davis has faced in its 10 years of varsity existence.

The Aggies conclude their Spring Break trip to the Old Dominion State with a game at American University on Thursday. The Eagles most recently lost a 15-7 decision to No. 3-ranked Johns Hopkins on Sunday.
