DAVIS, Calif. - Junior attacker Megan Takacs scored a game-high five goals with 11 draw controls while Melissa Humphrey posted five assists, boosting California to a 15-10 win over UC Davis in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse action at Aggie Stadium Wednesday night. Elizabeth Datino, Stephanie Guercio and Elizabeth Landry each netted two goals for the Aggies.

UC Davis moves to 5-6 for the year and drops to 2-1 in MPSF games. The Golden Bears improve to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Datino also had two assists for four total points. Freshman Allie Lehner scored a goal with two assists for three points. Landry added two ground balls, two draw controls and three caused turnovers to her offensive output.

For Cal, Alexa Rozelle chipped in a hat trick while Humphrey, Vail Horn and Paige Gasparino each tallied two goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Megan McGinnis had 10 saves and a steal in front of the Bears' cage. Despite her lofty scoring production, Takacs' major contribution was on the draw, which helped Cal capture exactly two-thirds of the game's 27 draw controls. She scored three in the first 13 minutes, boosting the Golden Bears to a 6-1 start.

However, UC Davis rallied late in the first half, enjoying a 4-1 run over the final nine minutes to close the halftime gap to a 7-5 deficit. After Amelia Burke traveled some 40 yards for an unassisted transition drive early in the second period to bump the Cal lead back to three, Aggie junior Anna Geissbuhler assisted freshman Charlotte Morris on a fast-break finish, bringing the lead to 8-6.

The Golden Bears responded with four unanswered goals, winning the draw each time, to restore their lead to 12-6 with roughly 12 minutes remaining in the contest. Cal maintained roughly that margin the rest of the way. Datino scored on a drive with 11:34 left to bring the score to 12-7, only to see the lead swell to seven on Horn's eight-meter chance five minutes later.

UC Davis slipped to just .370 shooting (10-for-27) and largely struggled in transition, committing five of its 12 turnovers on clear attempts.

The Aggies continue MPSF play in their final regular-season road action of the year, traveling to Oregon for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.
