FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore Elizabeth Landry scored four goals while senior Hannah Mirza added a hat trick, helping UC Davis secure its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse victory of the year in defeating Fresno State, 15-6, at Bulldog Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The Aggies improve to 4-8 for the year and 1-4 in MPSF play. The Bulldogs dip to 2-11 overall and remain winless in conference at 0-6.

Besides the contributions of midfielders Landry and Mirza, senior attacker Elizabeth Datino added two goals and two assists. Freshman defender Mary Doyle tallied a game-high six draw controls to go with two caused turnovers. Senior Stephanie Guercio added two goals, both in aid of UC Davis' 10-1 first half.

The Aggies dominated the first half, outshooting its host by a 22-7 margin and winning 11 of the 12 draws. Landry scored three straight goals in a span of less than two minutes while Mirza also completed her hat trick before the break. The Aggies led at halftime by a 10-1 advantage.

However, Fresno State rallied early in the second half behind the offense of Kara Concheck. The junior midfielder scored four goals in the first 12 minutes after the intermission, helping to cut the deficit to 11-6 with 16:18 remaining. UC Davis recovered to extend its lead to seven, first when a Sara Quero steal led to her own goal on the other end in the 45 minute, then when a Colleen McGee ground ball pickup allowed freshman Ellie Delich to score in the 51st.

Fresno State never managed another goal down the stretch and Datino scored on a pair of unassisted strikes to help the Aggies protect their win.

Both teams enjoyed strong relief appearances by their reserve goalkeepers. UC Davis started sophomore Kai Murphy, who picked up three saves in her first 38:27 in front of the cage. Then junior Jordan Majka tallied five saves with only two goals allowed the rest of the way. Similarly, Fresno State got seven saves from starter Katie Wilbur before Lisa Barnaba posted three stops with just one goal against in the final 8:19.

The Aggies return to action for three straight conference home contests, starting with Friday's 5 p.m. tilt with San Diego State.
