EUGENE, Ore. - Four Aggies scored one goal each while senior Jordan Majka tallied seven saves as UC Davis trailed wire to wire in an 8-4 loss to Oregon in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse action at Pape Field Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies slip to 6-7 overall and 1-5 in conference. The Ducks improve to 8-5 for the year and 4-1 in MPSF play.
Junior Elizabeth Landry, senior Carly Voris, sophomore Mary Doyle and sophomore Courtney Neff each netted goals for UC Davis. Doyle also had a caused turnover, a draw control and three ground balls. Voris led the Aggies with three draw controls, while Allie Lehner matched Doyle's ground ball total.
For UO, Sami Kiser, Carly O'Connell and Bella Pyne each hit two goals. O'Connell also had an assist, three ground balls and three draw controls.
The Ducks put up two immediate goals, with Shannon Propst assisting O'Connell within the first two minutes, then Nikki Puszcz feeding Casey Brogan for the second just four minutes in. Landry put the Aggies on the board in the 11th minute, but Oregon scored five of the next six to take a 7-2 lead at halftime.
Propst and O'Connell paired up against five minutes into the second half to extend the Duck lead to six. Doyle hit an eight-meter in the 39th minute and Neff scored unassisted in the 51st. Majka had four of her stops in the second half but the Aggies never challenged the lead offensively.
Oregon outshot its guest by a 26-14 margin, including 17-6 before halftime. The Aggies also committed 17 turnovers to the Ducks' 11.
UC Davis continues MPSF action at Stanford on Tuesday night. First draw is 7 p.m.
