STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Elizabeth Landry tallied two goals and two assists but UC Davis ultimately could not battle its way out of an early deficit, falling to 13th-ranked Stanford by an 18-6 final in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse action at Maloney Field Tuesday night.

The Aggies slip to 6-8 for the year, 1-6 in conference. The Cardinal improves to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in MPSF games.

Landry, senior Carly Voris and sophomore Mary Doyle each scored two goals for UC Davis. Junior Sara Quero added two draw controls and a team-high three ground balls.

Eight different Stanford players scored two goals each, including Hannah Farr and Kelsey Murray, who each added an assist to her respective line. Farr and defender Megan Lerner each picked up four draw controls to lead the Cardinal to a 17-9 edge in that department.

Murray scored two goals amidst a 6-1 Stanford start in a little more than five minutes to start the contest, with Landry hitting the lone UC Davis tally in that run. Rachel Ozer and Paige Southmayd hit eight-meter shots in the 9th and 11th minutes, respectively, to extend the Cardinal lead to 8-1.

The Aggies, who were outshot by a 14-3 margin to this point, then responded with four of the next six goals to close the gap to 10-5 with 10:36 left in the first.

Stanford scored three straight to end the half with a 13-5 lead, then extended that run to seven unanswered during the first 14 minutes of the second half. Doyle and Stanford's Emily Newstrom had the only goals in the final 15 minutes of play, standing in stark contrast to the offensive slugfest of the first half.

UC Davis surrendered a 31-18 shooting margin overall but allowed just eight shots after halftime. The Aggies also committed just 10 turnovers in the contest, while Doyle caused two Cardinal miscues on defense.

MPSF play continues with a pair of UC Davis home games, starting with a Friday afternoon tilt against Fresno State. First draw is 4 p.m. at Aggie Stadium. The game has been designated the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Day, in honor of the organization that improves the lives of children and family battling pediatric tumors.
