MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Sophomore Katie McMahon scored five goals with three assists, sparking her team to an 11-0 halftime lead, as UC Davis beat Robert Morris University by a 17-2 final in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at the North Athletic Complex Saturday.
The Aggies improve to 7-5 for the season. The Colonials remain winless at 0-12.
For the Colonials, Jojo Zizic and Madeline Flanagan each scored unassisted goals to account for the entire RMU offensive output.
McMahon completed her hat trick by the 15th minute of the first half, doing so on a free-position shot that put UC Davis ahead to a 5-0 start. McGovern added back-to-back goals to extend the run to 7-0, then Moore scored all three of her goals in a span of 5:26 to help the Aggies hit double digits. McMahon added a fourth goal in the final minute before the halftime break to give her team an 11-0 advantage.
Zizic finally spoiled the shutout bid with a free-position goal at the 35:12 mark. However, UC Davis added to the scoring column with three goals in four-minute stretch. McMahon, McGovern and sophomore Jen Sanderson also tacked on goals during the closing minutes to seal the final.
The Aggies outshot the Colonials, 37-6, and forced a total of 22 turnovers in the win.
