Senior midfielder Jaime Fitzpatrick led UC Davis with four goals in her team's 13-10 loss to Denver University in the third-place game of the Mountain Pacific Lacrosse League tournament, thus breaking her school's single-season record for goals. Her 51 goals during 2003 surpasses the old mark of 50, set by Allison Stonebarger in both the 1998 and 1999 seasons.

With the loss, the Aggies conclude their season with a 9-8 record. UC Davis, ranked No. 2 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association D-II poll, was not selected for the NCAA Division II Lacrosse Championships, it was announced Sunday evening.

Kate Hanson added three goals for UC Davis while Tiffany Lee, Leslie Kado and Naomi Coffman each scored one. Goalkeeper Kristen Braasch saved eight shots in the Aggie net.

For the Pioneers, Patience Baldwin, Courtnay Gerl and Steph Greenlees each posted three goals. Goalkeeper Steph Schneider recorded 10 saves in net.

Each team traded goals for most of the first half, Denver took the lead for good when Baldwin's goal from Beth Cordova gave the Pioneers a 5-4 advantage. Greenlees added an unassisted goal at 27:16 to give her team a 6-4 lead. Denver led 7-5 at the halftime break.

Gerl scored at 30:38 and 36:54, and Mariana Spry added another goal at 42:17 to extend the Pioneer lead to 10-6. Fitzpatrick hit her third goal at 46:09 and Hanson converted a Kado pass less than 90 seconds later to cut the lead to two, but UC Davis never got any closer.

Stanford successfully defended its MPLL championship, edging UC Berkeley, 15-14, in the title game.
