LAST WEEK: UC Davis (2-0, 2-0) stayed unbeaten both overall and in MPSF play with a 16-13 victory at Saint Mary's... The Aggies led 8-5 at halftime and 10-7 early in the second half before the Gaels took a 12-11 advantage in the 45th minute... Freshman Charlotte Morris converted an eight-meter for the equalizer with 10:29 remaining, then junior Elizabeth Datino tallied three goals and an assist in a span of five minutes to reclaim the lead for good... Datino tied her career high of six goals while adding three assists, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Morris finished with two goals and two assists for a second straight week while fellow rookie Elizabeth Landry posted her first collegiate hat trick... UC Davis, which led the nation in draw controls last year, picked up 21 more in Thursday's win... Junior Vannessa Jamison notched a school-record nine DCs to go with three caused turnovers... She surpassed the previous mark of eight, set by Britt Farquharson in the Aggies' MPSF tournament upset of Denver in 2009.

UP NEXT: The Aggies depart for the first of two East Coast road trips, this time in the North Carolina/Virginia area of the Atlantic... All three opponents are first-time foes... Furthermore, this is the farthest south UC Davis has traveled since 2003, when the team took on Limestone in Pfeiffer, S.C.

HIGH POINT (1-1), runner-up in the eight-team National Lacrosse Conference, opened with an 11-10 win over Navy before evening its record with an 18-8 loss to Virginia Tech on Thursday... Midfielder Sara Kuhlman scored four goals while attacker Chelsea Thompson tallied four assists... Both players won All-NLC honors in 2011, helping the Panthers post a 15-4 overall record in their inaugural season... DAVIDSON (0-2), also member of the NLC, dropped games against American (6-12) and Navy (5-16) to open its third season... Sophomore Ann Fucigna leads with four goals and two assists thus far... She led the Wildcats with 49 goals last year to earn All-NLC distinction... VIRGINIA TECH (2-1) suffered its first loss on Saturday, falling to Williams Mary after claiming the 18-8 midweek victory over High Point... Senior midfielder Jessica Nonn paces the Hokies with nine goals and four assists... Junior Brooke Martin and freshman Megan Will also have eight goals thus far... Virginia Tech will become the Aggies' first Atlantic Coast Conference opponent in history.

Note: both Morris (McLean) and freshman Sarah Rupp (Alexandria) hail from the D.C. area of Virginia, roughly four hours from Blacksburg.
