UC Davis junior Gina Hoffmire was selected to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse first team, while senior Molly Peterson and sophomore Vannessa Jamison made second-team honors, it was announced by the conference office during the MPSF tournament Thursday.

This is the first such honor for each student-athlete. Furthermore, it marks the first time since the MPSF's inaugural season that more than one Aggie earned all-conference distinction: with seven members, and the first year the seven-team league has opted to expand to a first and second team of honorees.

Hoffmire, a midfielder from Corte Madera, Calif., leads the UC Davis with 44 goals to help the team rank seventh nationally in scoring offense. She has shot better than 60 percent for the season, while providing 21 ground balls and 20 draw controls in the field. On March 6, Hoffmire scored a career-high seven goals - including the winner with 37 seconds in the second sudden-death overtime period - to lead the Aggies to a 14-13 comeback win over Temple. Nine days later, she scored six goals with three assists against Detroit to win MPSF Player of the Week honors.

Peterson, a senior defensive wing from Lafayette, Calif., has started every game in her four-year career. Despite a consistently solid overall career, she has enjoyed her best season in 2010, posting career highs in goals (19), assists (5), ground balls (34), draw controls (24) and caused turnovers (26). For her career, Peterson ranks third in school history with 82 steals.

Jamison, a sophomore from Poway, Calif., began to emerge late in her freshman season with two strong performances against Denver. This season, she has continued where she left off in 2009, ranking among team leaders in ground balls and caused turnovers. In the six conference games, Jamison has tallied 17 ground balls and 10 steals.

Stanford junior Lauren Schmidt repeated as MPSF Player of the Year, while Cardinal mentor Amy Bokker garnered Coach of the Year honors. Denver redshirt freshman Kara Secora was chosen as Newcomer of the Year.

UC Davis holds a 10-5 overall record heading into Thursday night's MPSF tournament contest. The fifth-seeded Aggies take on fourth-seeded Oregon for the right to face host and top seed Denver. The winner of the conference tournament will advance to an NCAA tournament play-in game against Atlantic-10 champion UMass.
