Ten Aggies earn MPSF All-Academic honors

May 26, 2017

DAVIS, Calif. - Ten UC Davis student-athletes earned 2017 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic distinction for women’s lacrosse, as announced by Executive Director Al Beaird on Friday. Alphabetically, the Aggie honorees are senior Lauren Ali, sophomore Rachel Brennan, sophomore Taylor Cuenin, sophomore Shannon Cross, junior Kate Fellner, sophomore Natalie Garces, junior Courtney Humphrey, senior Pauline Kaplan, sophomore Grace Richards and sophomore Carolina Tweedy.

This is the largest Aggie delegation to the MPSF All-Academic list in program history, surpassing the previous high of eight set by the 2010 and 2016 teams.

To earn conference academic honors, players must hold a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, be of sophomore, junior or senior academic standing, have completed one full academic year at the member institution prior to the award year, and play in 50 percent or more of the team’s competitions for that year.

Kaplan, a chemistry major from Danbury, Connecticut, captured her maximum third award. Ali, Brennan and Fellner are two-time honorees. Of course, this is the first such award for each of the six Aggie sophomores on the honor roll. Cuenin, who holds the highest GPA (3.71) of the UC Davis scholar-athletes, previously captured All-MPSF first team distinction back in late April.

UC Davis went 6-11 overall and 2-6 in MPSF play in 2017.
